Audit Support & IRS Representation

Audit Support & IRS Representation
Receiving a notice from the IRS or a state tax authority does not necessarily mean there is a serious problem, but it does need to be addressed properly.
We assist and represent clients in matters involving IRS and state tax authorities, including notices, information requests, examinations and audits. We review the issue, examine the relevant returns and financial records, prepare responses and supporting documentation, and communicate with the taxing authority on the client's behalf where authorized.
Tax disputes often turn on the facts, the records available to support them and how the taxpayer's position is presented.
We help clients respond to questions about reported income, deductions, transactions, information returns and other tax matters, as well as penalty notices and filing issues. Where appropriate, we also assist with penalty abatement requests, correcting prior filings and resolving outstanding compliance matters, working with tax counsel or other specialists when the circumstances require it.
Our role is to manage the process from the initial notice through resolution, giving clients a clear understanding of the issues, the available options and what needs to happen next.
